This is an open-air museum featuring traditional houses that have been relocated and restored from various locations. Within the village, there are seven traditional houses, including the former Sakai family residence, built in March 1830 (a National Important Cultural Property), the former Fuse family residence from Joetsu City in Niigata Prefecture, which was constructed roughly 300 years ago (a Municipal Important Cultural Property), and a stone-roofed house from Tsushima. In addition, there's a museum of history and folklore displaying artifacts from the Jomon period to the Kofun period, arranged chronologically, and an art museum housed in one of the traditional buildings. Visitors can also engage in various hands-on workshops such as woodworking, soba noodle making, and pottery, and can even stay overnight. (Charges apply, reservation required)
