Tsunagi Art Museum

Tsunagi is a town of artistic expression. A municipal art museum of this level is a rarity in a town of approximately 4,500 people. Following the widespread affliction of Minamata disease among the townspeople, initiatives aimed at using art for healing and revitalizing the community began in 1984, under the banner of "Creating a Town with Greenery and Sculptures." This museum was established in 2001 as part of this project to serve as a center for artistic and cultural activities in the Minamata and Ashikita regions. Since 2008, it has served as a base for community art projects as well.
