Kumamoto City

Higo Zogan (Inlays)

One of Kumamoto’s representative traditional crafts of Higo Zogan is produced by engraving designs into an iron base, which are then inlaid with gold and/or silver.
While it traditionally utilizes motifs handed down from ancient times, the technique has also been adopted in fields requiring a more modern sense of style - such as accessory design or interior decorating, etc.
