This general interest museum is themed around connecting the memories of Kumamoto to the future. It features permanent exhibits of a wide range of materials on important cultural properties, history, and nature. In addition to this, there are special exhibition rooms for temporary exhibits and hands-on workshops, including experiments and craft-making. The museum also houses a planetarium.
