”Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine”, a hidden and mysterious place that seems to be lost in a different world

This location was featured in a popular manga comic book, and the shrine is a mysterious place that has long been preserved in unspoiled natural surroundings. The scene of the sun entering the dark green world is a very fantastic sight that has been shared by many on the social media. The shrine is believed to bring good luck in marriage.

This place is a quiet water source surrounded by a pristine forest that produces 30 tons of water per minute. Enjoy the green reflection of the trees on the clear water surface and heal your soul while listening to the beautiful sounds of the birds and the wind.

Recommended for those who love old ruins! A mysterious octagonal tunnel “Yuen Railway’s Hakkaku Tunnel”

This old train line was abandoned line in 1964, but this tunnel, which was built to prevent the rocks on both sides of the track from collapsing, still attracts many tourists as an industrial ruin.

Many mysterious-looking shapes and structures can be found here. On a rainy day, you can take pictures with a unique ambience.

The pier of the Tsurugawa Bridge, which is also the remains of the Yuen Railway, is located nearby.

“The Fourth Fishing Port Northern Side Environment-Protected Site”, a photo spot of precious sandy beach and sea in the suburb of Kumamoto

Here, at the corner of the Fourth Fishing Port, you can enjoy the view and ambience of the sea that is located next to the Kumamoto City Fisheries Promotion Center. It is not a place to swim, but great for taking a walk on the beach while listening to the sound of the waves, or to take pictures of the beautiful sunset.

The sea and the fishing port are not separated with an embankment so that you can enjoy a full view of the sea while taking a walk on the beach

The sandy beach has many shells. There is also a rest area for visitors to enjoy a meal while watching the sea on a sunny day. Please do not forget to bring back your trash!

“Nagasaki Jiro Bookstore”, a retro-looking bookstore loved by literary scholars

"Nagasaki Jiro Bookstore" is a long-established bookstore that has a history spanning more than 140 years. It is said that this place has been visited by many famous Japanese literary scholars. In 2014, the “Nagashima Jiro Café Room” was built on the second floor, a place for visitors to enjoy authentic coffee while watching the view of the passing trams.

The building built in 1924, designed by an architect who was famous for designing the Mitsubishi Marunouchi Red Brick Office Square, is designated as a National Tangible Cultural Property.

The ceiling, window frames, and pillars in the retro-modern shop have been preserved since the time of construction, and some of the ceilings use the ancient handrails of a tea room with a distinctive feature of a dragon’s scales.

Enjoy a moment that reminds you of the distant past while feeling the pleasant vibration of the passing trams. How about having a cup of coffee while reading your favorite book that you purchased at the bookstore?
